Thanks for psoting this I was a citizen on Alphaworld for quite a while as a kid. This brings back so many memories. Everytime after school i would get on and spend hours on there playing. Went back on the other day to try and find my house, unfortunately i coudnt. Used to have some friends on there, to this day would only just like to meet them again and see wat they are up to.

I never got why a non-trans/femboy/etc would use as his internet face an anime girl. Why do that? For me, the ideia was to put some character relatable and aspirational, as much as I think there're good anime girls, they could never be aspiracional to me, ever. There's nothing there for me to use as an internet mask. Outside trolling or some kind of gender disphoria that naver made sense to me.

It has been a rough 4 years of me trying to understand what I wanted to do with my gender. I know for sure since 4 years that I'm not of the gender I was assigned at birth. But, because I never really felt disphoria I always felt like I wasnt fully trans or that I dont have the right to be trans. Cis Male here. I've always used girly and womanly avatars in videogames, even as a child. Ever since I was given the option to pick Chun Li, in Street Fighter. I'm repusled by the notion of "I want to look at what I'm attracted to", personally, as I'm Demisexual and my gaze at feminine characters isn't sexualized. For instance, I find sexualized fanservice to be irritating, annoying and a bit disgusting. In virtual worlds I tend to feel more comfortable whenever I'm playing as a girl or woman Avatar. And ever since first playing Phantasy Star 1, I tend to use "Alis" as a nickname in games. Alis being the main girl protagonist of the game. I find myself using feminine avatar portraits all the time as well, for similar reasons. In meatspace, I'm not very manly. I'm also autistic. I'm mostly myself when I'm cute around friends who let me be cute, although being cute all the time is equally tiring, and I feel judged whenever I'm forced to be either cute or uncute to be perceived as truthful. It seems people won't accept that I can be both. Growing up with toxic masculinity means I was also forced to pick up some nasty social habits, accordingly. And some of those are very hard to get rid of. My autism, together with my social inexperience, makes it hard and tiresome to present myself to others in a way that correctly sets up their expectations of who I am and therefore who they'll allow and expect me to be. I often exaggerate or miscalculate my measurements of how to present as myself to others. I'm very interested in trying VRChar after watching this. If only I had the means to do so. It seems like the kind of place where I'd be able to discover more about myself and my identity without the concerns of how people will perceive me or having to fit within a certain box in front of others to be allowed to behave the way I'm most comfortable most of the time, even if that excludes behaving like other expressions of myself that don't quite fit those boxes all of the time.

Honestly, the one time I tried VRchat, I picked an anime girl avatar because all the other default option looked stupid and this is what I've seen most people wear in this game so why not. Kind of weird when some french guy said to me "hey, woman", despite my voice.

I may not be an anime girl myself (I’m a robot fox with arm blades in vrc) but I respect those who are.

Just as a sidenote from a VR-outside, it is really heartwarming to see how much more expressive you become once you use your VRchat avatar. It may be in part due to your arm gestures being easier to see due to the different body proportions, but I don't think it's just that. Either way, esapecially from Chapter 3 onwards it really drives home the point that virtual worlds are truly meaningful to you as you just seem to communicate in such an immersed and natural manner. I keep bouncing around the idea of building a SlimeVR set of full body sensors and you only make it look so much more appealing. Also, the rage expressed towards your English Degree was hilarious.

im non-binary and realized i was that when people called me they while i was in an alphonse elric avatar and i felt good hearing that and this was after years of feeling confused and ig not realizing non-binary was a option? i didnt feel like a girl or a boy and didnt have the vocabulary to express and explain it. that was when i was 17 and im now 21, im out and have an accepting and loving family so im quite fortunate and so grateful for my situation. VRchat has helped me alot with that, its help me meet some amazing people who are much better then any friend ive ever had before, i understand myself on a much deeper level and i can be myself without fear of being judged or bullied for just being me. of course ive experienced hate there but thats to be expected and a reminded that VR isnt a complete escape. i want to help my sister who is trans to play VRC and help her experience more gender euphoria

I use original avatar from a any different games like Pokemon i use red and serena or ash and may sometime Dragon ball i use goku, trunks and android 21 Fortnite i use so many characters like black knight, midas and ruby. Different avatars for different anime and game
